APOD-Galactic center star clusters


This amazing image was taken using X-rays. As I learned while researching this picture, X-ray pictures of celestial objects are made by analyzing the radiation they emit or block and converting it into an image. In this case, the image is what the milky way galaxy looks like towards sagittarius. This image spans 130 light years at a distance of 26000 light years away. The center of the galaxy is located towards the bottom of the picture, as well as a massive black hole named sagittarius A.
